Place Partnership Academies Celebrate National Recognition for Pupil Voice, Inclusion and Wellbeing
Maltby Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy, members of Place Partnership, have been recognised nationally with awards for their outstanding commitment to inclusion, pupil voice and wellbeing.
Edurio is a leading platform for education stakeholder surveys, gathering feedback from pupils, parents, staff and wider school communities. Its annual awards celebrate the top-performing schools across a range of categories, based on national survey data and feedback from pupils, staff and parents.
Maltby Academy has been recognised in the top 10 nationally for the KS3 Transition Edurio Award. This category celebrates schools that successfully support pupil happiness, belonging and engagement during the move from primary to secondary education, helping young people to thrive during one of the most significant stages of their educational journey.
The national award builds on further recognition received by the academy earlier this year through Rotherham's inaugural Celebrating Inclusive Practice Awards, where Maltby Academy was presented with the Best Inclusive Provision Award. Judges recognised the academy's whole-school commitment to inclusion, including its reduction in permanent exclusions, investment in a broad and flexible curriculum, successful extension of the EXCEED teaching model, and strong academic and vocational pathways for students.
Together, these awards reflect the academy's commitment to creating an environment where pupils feel valued, supported and connected to their school community. They recognise both the positive experiences reported by pupils and the inclusive practices that ensure every young person has the opportunity to succeed academically, socially and personally.
Richard Wood, Principal at Maltby Academy, said: "We are delighted to be recognised for our focus on pupil happiness and engagement, particularly at this crucial stage in young people's educational journey. The Edurio award is particularly meaningful because it is based on the experiences and feedback of our students themselves. At Maltby Academy, we believe that every young person should feel that they belong, are valued and have the opportunity to achieve success. To be recognised nationally for the positive experiences of our students, while also being recognised locally for our inclusive practice, is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the strength of our academy community."
Meanwhile, Middlestown Primary Academy has secured two national Edurio Awards: the Pupil Feedback in Action Award and the Pupil Engagement Award.
These awards recognise schools where pupils feel listened to, valued and able to influence school life, as well as those that consistently achieve high levels of pupil satisfaction and engagement.
Hannah Young, Executive Principal at Middlestown Primary Academy, said: "We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. We know that children at Middlestown Primary are happy, cared for and listened to, and it is wonderful to see this reflected in feedback from our pupils.
"We provide a wide range of opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills, independence and responsibility through roles such as Wellbeing Champions, Sports Leaders and Subject Ambassadors. Alongside this, our staff are continually developing experiences that enrich children's lives and broaden their horizons, from educational visits and guest speakers to our annual Sports Week initiative.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff, whose passion and commitment help create an environment where every child feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed."
